Over the last couple of years we have been working with, and advising, Growing Underground, London’s first subterranean farm.
The project has been led by inspiring entrepreneurs Richard Ballard and Steven Dring for 2 years.
The farm is based in disused World War II bomb shelters 100 feet under Clapham Common. Originally the tunnels were envisaged as a section of a ‘super Northern Line’, but transport priorities changed and these extraordinary caverns have been largely unused and undisturbed for more than half a century.
Last year we won a PR Week Award (our equivalent of an Oscar) for business campaign for our work with Richard and Steve. We created the brand name, introduced Richard and Steve to Michel Roux Jr (now a director of the business), helped them navigate two crowd funding campaigns and made them worldwide eco farming superstars with 60+ international broadcast crews filming news pieces and features about the project. If you can find a print or broadcast outlet that hasn’t covered this project we’d be surprised!
We’re very proud of our work for Richard and Steve – and we hope it gives a glimpse of how adept we are at advising inspirational start-ups and helping them use communications to get their ideas on a commercial footing.
